Treasures of the Day

I took some pics this morning of my home. I've been decorating for Valentine's Day and wanted to show it all off. It is so much fun getting ready for a holiday. So, I'll take you on a little tour of my house. It won't take long as it's not very big, but I love it and it's fine for me and my boyfriend.

This is my little snowman sign that I made.
I have this shelf in my dining room and the stuff will be replaced with Valentine's Day decorations shortly. These guys sure look happy. They will be here until about March 1 when they will be changed out for spring stuff.
My dining room window.

My little houses that I made are sitting on the top of the chair rail in the dining room.
The other end of the chair rail.
One end of the living room.

My front window with my collection of colored glass. Some old , some new, some borrowed (from my friend that passed away), some blue.
Oops, saw this one before. The plate is from my sister. The pic is of my Mom and us 7 sisters! I love it and them with all my heart.

My spinning wheel that I also love. This is an old lunch box and I placed some of my Valentines in it. I don't have many vintage ones, which most people use, so I brought out the ones that I saved over the years.

I had a day off from the candy store, so I had some time to play. I finished this heart wreath this morning and hung it on my front door. Those are silk roses.

Then I went to my three favorite thrift shops and I found this cast iron bunny door stop, 2 hankerchiefs, the Lusterware sugar and creamer with ceramic spoon, the teacup, the blue & white English plate, a hand blown heart ornament, and a video tape called "Bed of Roses". I was really in a mood for roses today. I have more pics that I will post tomorrow. It was a very good day and I had fun. Now I'm going to watch my "new" movie.

Tomorrow I am going to the two thrift stores that I frequent and that makes me happy. One never knows what will turn up in the search. I have several things that I look for when I get there. I collect so many things, it's hard to list them all. One thing I love is the seashell boxes with the velvet linings. A few that I found have been missing a shell here or there but I have been able to fix them and no one would know but me. I collect old dishes with roses or flowers, Wexford glassware, the old peanut butter glasses from Proctor & Gamble, perfume bottles, vanity items, I have stuff to decorate for every holiday, and so much more. What I do is make a quick sweep of the place and if I see something that I might want, I pick it up and hold onto it while I finish looking. When I'm done, I will examine the pieces and then I will reevaluate and decide if I want to purchase or not. I can't wait to see what I turn up tomorrow! I will show my finds when I return.
