Love Poems

Today when I was at my favorite thrift store this little book caught my eye.
It has a beautiful velvety cover with gold lettering. After I got it home I started reading some of the poems and they put me in a romantic mood. I wanted to share a poem with you.

It's called: A Red, Red Rose---by Robert Burns

O my Luve's like a red, red rose
That's newly sprung in June:
O my Luve's like the melodie
That's sweetly played in tune.
As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I:
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry:

Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear
And the rocks melt wi' the sun:
I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o' life shall run.
And fare thee weel, my only Luve!
And fare thee weel awhile!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho' it were ten thousand mile.

According to the Introduction in the book, it says, "From the Bible to Shakespeare to Whitman and Dickenson, the face of love in poetry through the ages has changed. But the soul of love, which a good poem ultimately reveals, has remained the same. The joys and sorrows, ecstacies and agonies of love are universal qualities that will never change."

I'm looking forward to Valentine's Day and reading more of the lovely poems in this little gem of a book.

'Til next time, Love Ya, Jean
