An Old Love Renewed......

This is a room box that I made as a gift for my mother-in-law about thirty years ago. When she passed away, my father-in-law gave it back to me and I've had it hanging in my craft room ever since. It's a little perfume shop.
I made the little coat rack, and everything in the room.

All the little bottles are made from beads and jewelry findings.

I made the shelving and the little bench.

The umbrella stand is a little plastic tube of some sort. I painted the inside with gold paint and the umbrellas are cocktail picks with some plastic wrapped around them and then I added some small gold chain to the handle. The carpeting is red cotton velvet and I think it looks just right.
So, this is the old love renewed. I've always loved miniatures and now that I have time, I can pursue this hobby again.
I also have a dollhouse that I started building back then, but life sort of got in the way and it ended up in the garage for many, many years. It has been brought back into my life, at the urging of my BFF, and I've started working on getting it finished. I will have some pictures of it for you soon.

I have been very busy since I last posted. I hope this doesn't happen again. But I have gotten a lot accomplished in the last 3 weeks. The fun thing was: I had a mini vacation with my best friend. We went to a quilt show which was amazing! The workmanship that went into these quilts was awe-inspiring! I was so happy to be able to attend this show and to see the artistry that the creators used in their quilts.
I have a Honey-do list and WE have gotten quite a few things crossed off the list. We needed to get a lot of things done before winter sets in. With the summer being such a scorcher, I feel like I wasn't able to do as much as I needed too. We are still working on the list though.
I had an Echocardiogram today. My feet are swelling (very uncomfortable) and the Doc wants to make sure it's not my heart that's causing it. If the heart is Ok, then he'll probably change my medications, I hope.
I also have some dentist appointments coming up, something that I really don't like, but I must do it. I need to get some new partial dentures made, the old ones are worn out!
Lots to do!

I also want to say "Thank you" to all my followers. It is friends like you that make this blogging thing so much fun.

More beach decor......

The little table in the corner of my living room.....

This shell has had the outer covering removed and is just the inside mother of pearl. It shines and has so many colors.

I just bought this one last week--I couldn't resist, it's so beautiful!

Little girl on the beach....

Souvenir light house.....

Beach bag.....

Little beach chair from Michael's that I painted.....

Small jar of shells.....

I love the conch shells and have many.....

Teacup full of shells.....

My "new" lamp with it's new shade.....

Another jar full of shells.....

I love the ocean, the beach and all that is associated with it. I haven't been there yet this year, but I hope to get there before summer is over.

New thrift store in town....

I met two of my friends for lunch today and as we are sitting outside Panera Bread, we were talking and somehow..... the subject of a new thrift shop came up. We were within walking distance and decided to go over there.
It's called "Savers". This is a F.B Rogers Silver Co. silverplated tray that I bought. I've been wanting one and this one was waiting for me on the shelf! At $3.99 I couldn't pass it up.

I also found 3 of the little shell boxes, and since I have a beach theme on my mantle, they really fit into my decorating theme. Here are some of the things that I have on there.....

Shells, sand castles, the shell covered boxes, shell jewelry,

retro sunglasses....

I love them all and wish I lived near the beach. Well, I can drive about 50 miles to the nearest beach and the ocean is only 20 miles east of me, so I quess you could say I live near the ocean. I really want it out my back door though. hehe

This is my new chair, it finally arrived....It's very big, I think it's called a chair and a half. It's great to sit in and read.

These are all the things I got at the thrift shop.....
The little lamp is going on the table next to the chair......they didn't have a shade for it, but I saw one a Walmart that will be perfect for it. The lace is a window valance but I can use it on the mantle for a scarf. I think it'll look great when I have my teacups up there. The little shell boxes are there, also. All this for $17.00! I think I will be going there frequently.

Another one of my baby quilts......So far, I've made 22.....

So, this is what I've been doing. Oh, also working outside in my garden. It's been so hot and dry here that my flowers are all finished. I've been going out to work in my garden for short periods of time in the mornings when it's cooler.
