The pictures don't show it, but it is the most heavenly shade of pale aqua... |
So, I was able to remove the turtle neck part... |
This is how it looked when it came off... |
I unraveled some of the yarn and put it on a TP roll to keep it relatively untangled... |
I first whip stitched it by hand, with the yarn, and then to keep the inside seam in place, I did the running stitch around it. This is the front... |
The back view... |
The new restyled sweater... Who knew this could be done? Now I can wear it again! Do you have any turtlenecks that you could makeover? 'Til next time, Love ya, Jean |

Very clever! Great job!
Good Morning Jean Sweetie...
Oh my gosh, can you believe it? Who would have thought? I can makeover these soft sweaters that have turtle necks that have been choking me horribly. (As I have gotten older, I have noticed I do not like things around my neck like that.)
Your sweater is gorgeous and the makeover is delightful. Thanks for the little tutorial dear friend.
Have a glorious week sweetie. Many hugs and much love, Sherry
Hi Sherry, Thanks for coming by...I hope you are feeling well...I have some other sweaters that need some help, too. I'm going to see if I can fix them, too. I am the same way, anything around my neck seems to choke me. Have a wonderful week and much love to you.
Hi Becky, thanks for coming by, and thanks for your sweet comment.
This is one of my favorite colors! I had no idea you could do this. I have not been able to tolerate turtlenecks for many years, so I don't have any I could re-work but you did an awesome job!
You did a great job! I would have botched the whole thing. LOL! My mom was good with stuff like that; unfortunately, I did not inherit her gift for sewing. I just visited another blog and admitted that I can barely sew on a button! LOL! So good for you for all you can do. That sweater looks really nice, very nice color, and I'm sure it will look pretty on you.
Best,
Gloria
Hey Toots good job!!! I have a couple of those tight turtle necks I am not fond of I will give this a try. Great Tute... Love ya. LJ
Thanks Maple Lane, Gloria and Lady Jane. I hope you find this useful. This sweater had an attached collar, some don't. You have to look carefully to see what kind you have. Have fun remaking your sweaters!
