My Disney Mantle....

The last two years I went to Disney World about this time of the year.......but not this year......too much going on in the family for us to go.....

So when my son-in-law gave me some Disneyana, I just had to do my mantle....

Here is a picture of my 6 grandchildren with Mickey.....a Tink figurine from my sister...my autograph book.....and another Tink mug.....
He gave me the snow globe, that was a Christmas gift..... and the vintage Peter Pan and Tinkerbell figures......

My Mickey ears, my Tink mug, the picture of all of us at O'Hanas at the Polynesian Hotel, a cutout of Tink, and a Disney Badge.

This is a Disney Dollar....these were issued in 1988 and could be used as legal tender.

My Soarin' Pin.....I love this ride!!!!! Also, a 100 year Disney anniversary pin sponsored by Kellogg's.... I love having my mementos around me, they bring back such sweet memories!

I understand that one of my sisters is there right now, along with one of my nephews......also, my niece works at Disney, and that makes it extra-special, too.
I can't wait to go again. Have you been there?

A Fun Time......

My granddaughter's 18th birthday was on Saturday......
She loves yellow rubber duckies......
This is her birthday cake......
The box for the pans......
The pan comes in two halves.......
Fill the bottom half with the cake batter.....
Put the top half on and tie together with string or wire to hold it together tightly while the cake is baking....

The finished product......Front view......

Cute little back end.......

A momentous occasion.............. I loved making this cake and my granddaughter loved it, too!
It was a fun time for all!
I am officially retired now and I am getting a lot of projects completed. I have lots to show you in the future. I have been visiting and catching up on my blogging. I'm lovin' it!

Beauty.....

I bought these carnations and baby's breath to help quench my longings for Spring.

They help a little and I just love looking at them!

Pretty flowers.....

This is the vintage platter that I used to put the latest banana bread variation on. It is a Homer Laughlin "Eggshell Theme" piece. It is so pretty....

Wish I had the whole set!

More Goodness.....

This is what I did on my day off on Monday......
It was a cold, snowy day here in New England, a perfect day for staying home and doing some baking.

I made my favorite banana bread recipe. This time I added blueberries and walnuts. Again, I have to say, "this is delicious". It seems that no matter what I add to this recipe, it is still delicious. I have made this many, many times and added so many different ingredients, and I am still amazed that it always comes out delicious. You can get the recipe here.
Does this look yummy or what? Crispy on the outside and moist and delicious on the inside. (And heavenly, mmmmm)

Here it is on my Homer Laughlin "Eggshell Theme" platter.

Perfect with some butter spread on it, and a nice cup of tea..... The perfect combination!

This is a recipe from "scratch" and it does take some extra time to put it all together, but I can assure you that the few extra minutes are well worth it.

A New Year....a new beginning.....

Hi my friends, I have been absent as of late. We made it through Christmas and the New Year OK. I want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year. I have no pics to post this time, I just wanted to let you know that I'm still alive. My absence is due to the closing of my candy store. This makes me sad and happy at the same time. My daughter and I have very mixed emotions about this event. We have had the store for 6 years and built it from scratch. It's been a long hard road and we had a very hard time coming to the decision to close. With the bad economy and rising prices, we are not able to keep the store going. Plus, our distributor closed his doors about 3 months ago. This made it much more difficult and more expensive to get our products. We are fortunate that we have no debt and we didn't want to incur any, so we decided it was a good time to do it.

The good part is: I have decided to finally retire--Yippee! More time for blogging, crafting, gardening, house cleaning, cooking, baking, computer games, and just doing all the stuff that I long to do and haven't been able to.

My daughter will get a job using her degree in Bio-Medical Sciences and she is happy about that. So, we will both have to make some adjustments in our lives, but I truly feel that it will be better for both of us. We may even lose some of this weight that we both gained over the last 6 years! haha

P.S. It's good to be back!
