I found this "parrot" at the Salvation Army.
I'm sorry for the glare on this picture. I don't know how to remove pictures once they are posted.
Some other stuff hangin' around.
I found the old thermometer in a pile of wood.
I also have some washboards hanging up there. I wish I had more room to hang more of them.
This is the one that I used for many years when I first got married. It was good for scrubbing really dirty spots on clothes, especially socks.

Ugg! To think that I really did make this starch and use it on my husband's shirts. It had to be cooked and then thinned with water to the right strength. It was poured onto the wet clothes and wrung out and then the clothes had to be hung on the clothesline to dry. Then the clothes had to be sprinkled with water and let sit for a while to evenly distribute the moisture and then they had to be ironed. What a job that was! They looked really nice when they were all finished.

Jean, I love your laundry area! I don't have a laundry room either - just a stacking washer and dryer behind closet doors in my family room. I loved looking at all your laundry related decor. I have the exact same little blue and white "Fairy Soap 5 cent" sign that you have hanging on one of your washboards! My sister gave it to me several years ago and it's hanging in my bathroom.
And... I'm here to let you know that you were exactly right - Mrs. Birdie built her nest in Patience's hair!!! So you are the winner of the tote and birdie! Please e-mail me your address at yesteryrda@aol.com so I can get everything right off to you!!
